Locations

The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age sports quite a few areas, either seen or unseen before, heard of or vaguely mentioned. You will get a chance to meet up with characters from areas you've seen or heard of before, as well as explore thoroughly every nook and cranny of every area you visit. Just some of the areas are listed here now. More will be added as we make it there.

Mines of Moria

The mines of Moria were once a prosperous, huge headquarters of the Dwarves of middle earth. For many hundreds of years, they flourished, made huge halls and rooms, and dug out the Mithril in the deepest mines. Too much greed for the Mithril became their downfall, however, when they dug so deep that they woke the Balrog of Morgoth.

Many hundreds of years later, the Fellowship of the ring entered the Mines in hopes of passing through to the other side so that they could continue their quest. They faced many hardships, however, and it was there that the great Gandalf the Gray fought against the Balrog.

Soon after the Fellowship arrives, you enter and follow in their path. The Mines are huge and expansive, and this game allows you to search every nook and cranny of every room. You will end up finding and fighting against many orcs, fall across a shrine to the Balrog, and eventually help Gandalf fight against the real Balrog.

Rohan / Edoras

Rohan is a vast, expansive country that is home to many villages and towns, among them Snowhelm and the great Edoras. The road between towns and villages was at one point very peacegfulwith the Rohirrim keeping the peace and everbody living a nice and happy life. However, Sauron eventaully started coming back, and things turned towards the worst.

Sauron took control over the mind of Saruman, and Sarumen eventually took over the mind of Wormtongue, who in turn took over the mind of Theoden of Rohan. Teoden grew old and weary beyond age and could do nothing when the Uruk-Hai came and pillaged their towns and killed their townfolk. Soon afterwards, however, Gandalf the White came with Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli and put things right.

You first enter into Rohan through a burning village protected by one woman: Morwen. Morwen has lost her family through all of the pillaging and vows to find them and get back at the people who tried to kill them. Shortly afterwards, you meet up with people such as Eomer, and go on your way to the Great Hall.

Helm's Deep

Helm's Deep was built by Helm Hammerhand, a King of Rohan from many years ago, to provide a safe haven for all people of Rohan in event of war. The strong defenses and the way it was built has given it a reputation of never having been broken into. After many Rohan wars and battles, this had been proven true: it was built in such a way that its walls were impossible to get through.

Things change, though. Many years later, the Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli arrive to help Theoden with his war against 10,000 Uruk-Hai. As the Uruk-Hai march along the plains or Rohan, those inside the great stronghold prepare themselves for the upcoming battle. With the aid of the Fellowship, everyone who could fight was taken to the armory and given weapons and armor.

Soon before battle begins, your party arrives and helps in the preparations. Ten thousand Uruk-Hai are marching in your direction at a very quick pace. Feel free to check the area for items and other equipment, and when you're ready talk to Legolas. Are you ready to help save the world of men?

Minas Tirith / Pelennor Fields

The fields of Pelennor are the vast plains ranging from Minas Tirith to Osgiliath and beyond. Within these fields, many wars have been fought, and it is on these fields that the greatest army of man will fight in an upcoming war. Denethor, Steward of Gondor, has gone mad, and without the aid of others is powerless against the great army that marshalls before them.

And then you come. As a party of 6 people, your job is to help the White City in the defense of the world of Man. When battle begins, you help fight on the fields and within the city. You help keep back the enemies who break through the gates, and help defend Eowyn against the great Witch King of Morgoth. You help fight one of the greatest battles of Middle Earth.
