History of The Third Age

Playing as Evil

The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age features a brand new feature that has never been present in RPG's before: battling as the bad guys! In this game, you have the chance of fighting as the evil dudes, but not throughout the entire game. Instead, you're only able to use the evil side during battles. Even so, taking advantage of this new features can wield you some fantastic things.

Once you beat the first area of the game, the "Evil Mode" feature will be unlocked in the title screen. When you start up the game, just choose that mode and you'll be taken to a map. Areas you've beaten will be displayed in blue, while areas you haven't beaten yet will be displayed in red. Choose one of the blue areas and you'll start up a series of battles, playing as a variety of enemies that you beat in the area.

Once you've got control of your party, your main objective is, of course, to beat yourself! The computer steps behind the controls of your original party, while you are the surrogate "good guys" and attempt to kick your own asses. Winning against yourself will reward you with items that cannot be acquired anywhere else.

So, now that you've got all this great information in hand, go out and prove to that old wizard that you can pass! Have fun!
